The 60%-green-candles filter counts the last 20 bars on the 5-Min chart (the past 100 minutes of price action): if 13 or more bars closed higher than they opened, the trend is characterized by consistent, repeated buying across individual intervals. This goes beyond checking whether price is merely above its average — it requires that buyers have been winning the majority of individual candle contests throughout the recent session. Combined with VWAP position, EMA alignment, and volume, this creates a four-factor quality screen. Each factor alone would match hundreds of stocks; all four together match almost none, ensuring the signal carries high informational content when it fires.
When it does fire, the stock has a compelling combination of trend position, indicator alignment, volume, and candle consistency, reducing the probability that any single condition is noise. The critical failure mode is timing: by the time all four conditions are simultaneously true, price may already be extended from its base or VWAP. The best entries are on pullbacks to VWAP or the 5-minute EMA(20) that quickly reclaim both levels rather than chasing the open of a bar far from both.
