This is a daily-timeframe signal, evaluated at the session open rather than on an intrabar basis. Unlike intraday breakout screens, this signal is fixed at the start of each session — once the gap is formed, it does not change. The 1% threshold filters out the routine noise of small overnight moves and focuses on gaps that represent meaningful demand shifts. There is no volume requirement, so gap-ups on thin premarket volume and gaps on heavy volume are both captured.
